Christmas In July

There is a really cool place here that is unique, boutique type stores and restaurants. And they are hosting a Christmas in July celebration today and tomorrow! The cutesy kids clothes shop had all their summer stuff half off. I got Katie a couple dresses for next summer! And they had face painting (we didn't do that!), a train area with toy trains, a craft (Katie made a sock puppet!), firefighters were giving away cute little fireman hats and crayons and coloring books, and they had Christmas movies playing for the kids! My mom met us there for lunch and we had a great time (minus a large-scale meltdown by Miss Priss)! Oh! And the jolly man! Of course Santa was there...all decked out in his summer gear! Katie screamed anytime he came close :) Probably didn't help that it was close to naptime! But Santa was giving the kiddie a Hawaiian lei...Katie did enjoy that part! And the funny thing was that there was a family eating there with a HUGE dog (English Mastiff - like ENORMOUS), and Katie went right up to it and wanted to pet it and play with it. She will do that, but a Santa sighting is traumatic! And I sure wish I had remembered my camera...oops! This phone pic of Santa will have to do. I sure hope they continue doing this every year - it was so fun!!

Tie Dye Fun

So, I'm slightly embarassed to admit that I've never tie-dyed before. That is, until yesterday. Definitely learned fewer rubber bands is what I should've done for more color, but it was still so fun! It doesn't look too bad, right??

Camp Time

Bring on the fun! Today is the first day of Sib Camp, and I have to admit that I'm pretty excited. See, I never went to sleep-away camp growing up. And I'm kinda embarassed to admit, but I've never tie-dyed before! So, being an admin kinda person at this camp is pretty neat. And I couldn't be more excited! The only downside? Brad is on vacation this week and I'm missing all the fun stuff he and Katie are doing! Yesterday it was the zoo...and I think tomorrow is the pool. I'm glad they are getting some good quality time together! And me? I can't wait for smores, and I can't wait to tie dye! This picture is of the counselors' banner. The pressure is on for the kids...I think ours looks rather professional!

Homeward Bound

What a fun trip we had! Unfortunately every good thing must come to an end...so we are heading home. Katie has done great in the car so far. But then we hit bumper to bumper traffic because of an accident, so we had to bring out something new. She got this color desk for her birthday and she seems to love it! More pics about the trip to come, but for now, I need to get back to my navigating duties!

I Apologize...

I know I've been away from the blogging world for a while and I'm sorry! We took an impromptu work trip with Brad and made it a little vacation! We stopped and stayed with some good friends and are now at the beach for a few days! I promise I'll do better :) For now, time to play!

2) Take bandaids on all trips, especially when taking a new pair of shoes.

Going, Going, Gone!

What a whirlwind day! It started way early...like pulling out of the driveway when the paper is being delivered early. And then I jumped on a plane to Baltimore. And then hopped into a van to DC! And my feet are so tired from playing tourist all day! I definitely covered some turf! And I do have better pics on my camera, but this will have to do for now. Another fun event was learning how to blog from my phone! So here's to another adventure!
