Consignment Finds: Part One

It's that time of year again ... CONSIGNMENT SEASON!! I am consigning at two local sales (one ready happened and one is coming up in a few weeks). One upside to consigning is clearing a bunch of the too-small-things out. Another is getting to shop early! At this one coming up, I'm also going to volunteer - so I will get to shop before consignors and I don't have to pay the registration fee!

At the sale that has already happened, I made $270!! Not too shabby! And I did spend most of that at the presale, but I did still make money :)

These are the 4 pairs of shoes I got ... 2 for both kiddos! And the sale is "boutique brand only"...so I was excited! Skechers, New Balance, Stride Rite, and Puddle Jumpers!
And these are all the clothing items! Matilda Jane, Gymboree, Gap, Mini Boden, football season goods for Jack, Polo, a $5 jacket for Jack...and other great things!!
The kids are pretty well-stocked for this fall/winter. At the presale shopping at the next sale, I think toys for Christmas gifts will be my main focus :) There's not much better than a good deal!

What's been your favorite find from a consignment sale??

Another Stitch Fix!

I loved my first "fix" so much, that I scheduled another one!  It came on Wednesday and I was so excited!  The FedEx man knocking on the door was music to my ears.  I immediately opened the box and loved what I saw at first glance!
I waited until Brad came home that evening to get real pictures (as opposed to self portraits in the mirror or trying to get Katie to take a picture).  I also decided taking a shower before trying the cute things on was a good idea since I had walked 4 miles earlier in the day :) So please excuse the wet hair, lack of makeup, dog toys, etc!
First up, the black cowl neck top.  I loved the style.  And the shirt itself was SO comfy and soft.  But I felt like it was too big.  On the styling notes, it suggested tucking into a pencil skirt (which I wouldn't do), but that told me it wasn't supposed to be this loose.  If had been slightly more fitted, I would have kept it!
Next up was the wrap dress.  I loved the zigzag pattern and I think it fit just right.  But I don't really care for wrap dresses.  I feel like the top gets stretched out over time and then my bra would show, which is not okay.  If it had been a regular dress with a sash that tied in the back or something like that, I would have kept it!
And the maxi dress.  It was the perfect length, which is hard to achieve considering I am short :)  But it clearly was too big.  And I felt like even putting a thick brown belt with it to accentuate my waist would have looked funny - I could just see all the fabric bunching and not being cute.  So I sent it back.
Now for the items I kept!  First was the polka dot sleeveless sheer top.  I love it!  First, it is a dot pattern.  And I like the collar on it.  And the peachy color is perfect for summer!  I think it'd be cute with a cute sweater or cardigan too.  Love!
And this dress.  If it were any smaller it would not fit.  But, it did!   I don't have anything that is this style/cut, so it will take some getting used to.  And in this picture it looks just right, but it is a little shorter than I am used to!  But I think pairing with jeggings and cowboy boots will be oh so darling.
Here is a closeup of the pattern.  Isn't it fun?  And it will be perfect to wear for Football Saturdays - War Eagle!!
And I went ahead and tried it on with jeggings.  I like it!
I absolutely love getting these fun boxes delivered to my doorstep.  And I just put the things I decided not to keep into the provided mailer and dropped it off at the post office and I'm done!  So fun.  Have you tried Stitch Fix?  I'd love to see what you got, what you thought about the process, etc!  And if you want to try it, click {HERE} to sign up, fill out your account info/preferences, and schedule your fix!

PS: Next time I will aim to get pictures maybe outside or something - not with dog toys all over the background :)  Thanks for stopping by!  And Happy Friday!

My First Fix!

So I had been hearing about Stitch Fix for a while and wanted to try it.  But I never thought of it!  Finally, my friend Jenny tried it and sent me pics of what she got - I loved it!  So I signed up, filled out the questionnaire (style preferences, height, weight, sizes, budget, etc), linked up my Pinterest style board, and scheduled my first "fix" - yay!

I got it in the mail last Monday and could hardly wait to see what was inside.  It was nicely packaged and folded very neatly!  I had asked for pieces for the transition from summer to fall and told them I really liked chevron!  Oh, and I mentioned I usually wear workout clothes so I am always ready to exercise - plus the fact that I am a momma.  And this is what I got!  Well, this and some jeans I was not a fan of - rhinestones on the rear...I don't need more attention in that area :)
The chevron top was so great, but I feel like it just hung on me - if it had been a little more fitted under the bust area, I would have kept it!  And the blue cardigan was a little too snug for my liking.  And I have a necklace similar to the one they sent.

So this is the piece I kept - the striped slouchy top.  It is SO soft and comfy!  And I love that it can be dressed down (workout pants) or dressed up (jeans/leggings) with a cute necklace and earrings too!
I loved how easy returns were - they send a big envelope that you put all of the returns in and you drop it in a blue USPS box within three days of receiving it.  And then you log in and provide feedback on each item and let them know what you are keeping and what you are returning.  AMAZING!  If you keep all 5 pieces (they send 5 per fix), you get a discount.  And when you schedule your fix, you pay $20 for the stylist fee.  But that amount go towards the item(s) that you keep!  Pretty awesome!

I can't wait to schedule my next fix and see what they send!  I'd love a maxi dress.  Or a button tab sleeve tunic top - with polka dots would be an extra bonus...ha!  If you think you may want to check it out, sign up {here}!  I don't think you'll be disappointed!  Personal shopping with a stylist all from your computer...sounds pretty amazing, right??  Plus a fun package in the mail is always something to look forward to!  If you do sign up, let me know what you get!  I love seeing what they send and what people end up keeping!  Happy shopping!

Matchy, Matchy

I wondered how I would feel about matching Katie and Jack in some cute clothes.  I thought I wouldn't be as interested since it is the girl - boy combo.  Well, ladies and gentlemen...I think I was wrong.  I don't feel like I have gone completely overboard, but I have gotten some cute things!  Here is a little look at some of the cute things I have gotten!  And I apologize in advance for the wrinkles...it all needs to be washed :)
And while I am posting pictures of cute things for them to match, I thought I'd post a few cute things that I have for Jack!  Aren't these hats cute?? I know he will be a summer baby, but I just love these hats!
And this sweet gown with matching bonnet/hat...
Here is a close up of the detail!  It has trains on it...so sweet!
And I just LOVE this gown!
And another great gown with bright colors!
Things are coming right along - not too much longer until we get to snuggle that sweet baby boy!

Katie's Got A Brand New Ride

Well, maybe not a new ride altogether, but she's got a new seat!  And she LOVED it!  She was so proud because she gets to actually use the big girl seat belt.

These step 4 carseats (I think that's right) are for 30-100 lbs and 3-10 years.  Katie is almost 3 and most definitely fits the 30+ lbs category, so we felt this was a safe move.  Plus it is less bulky (but still safe) and easier for her to get in and out of!  She especially loves her hidden cup holders :)  We thought in her old car seat that she just looked to big for it - and it didn't look like her neck/head were being supported enough since she is a tall lady.

Here she is on the maiden voyage...

We headed to the mall for Brad to get some more dress pants, etc, and Katie LOVED hiding in the pants!
She also thought that the little seat for trying on shoes was a slide.  Oh me.

Wednesday Recap

I know you probably get a bit tired of just reading my ramblings of what we are up to, but I love recapping - and with pictures!  I promise I will do some other kind of posts - including, hopefully, some crafty or before and after pics in our house!  For now, this will have to do.

Yesterday, we started off by Katie having music class!  Near the end of class, everybody plays with the parachute - she loves it!
As I mentioned previously, she loves pockets!  She was trying to find a book that fit in her pockets actually...
Our girls!  So cute and sweet :) ... most of the time...
See? She loves her pockets!  She wouldn't look at me, but I think this is kinda cute!
She wanted a snack, so she had a few marshmallows and goldfish - she found it necessary to use a toy knife to cut her marshmallow...what a goofball!
And finally...I shopped early at a consignment sale since I consigned a few things...and this was my main goal.  I wanted a double jog stroller.  And I found one.  For $50.  Whoa!  When I got my single jogger on Craigslist, it cost $65 I think...I am super excited.  And hopefully I will get good use out of it - as long as Katie will sit her rump in it and stay put for some walks/jogs!
Hope you had a great day yesterday! I am heading to the doctor today - and I have to do that gestational diabetes test.  Ew.  Wish my luck!

The Final Decision

We finally came to a final decision....and here it is, folks!
The theme of baby boy's nursery!

I also found this collection of prints on etsy - do you think it matches??
I think the walls will be blue (likely a lighter shade of blue).  And then maybe a red bookcase - like this one I posted about the other day!
Either this bookcase or possibly one that used to be mine (from my mom's house) that is dark red and black/brown.  Either way, I'm getting super excited to see it all come together!

Online Window Shopping

I was doing some online browsing the other day and came across some things that I am definitely adding to my mental wish list!  Here they are ...

Pottery Barn Kids Bookcase (in navy or red probably)
I love that it is compact! There is also a shorter, wider version with only 3 shelves that is an option too!
The Original Toycase bookcase
I love that it has shelves for books and then places for toys too! And it can be fully customizable!  Find them on Facebook!
Big Sis and Lil Bro shirts
These are from My Little Legacies
I love these tanks!
These are also from My Little Legacies!  And they can be made to match most Matilda Jane collections (or probably any shorts/skirt/pants)!
Caterpillar set
I love the dots, of COURSE - and the font and caterpillar are adorable too!  This is by SheShe Made!
I absolutely LOVE this baby boy gown - obviously using the name we've picked out...
Aren't these colors fun?!  Also a SheShe Made find!
I think this could totally match the baby boy gown - for Katie though!
Yep, another SheShe Made creation!
This brother/sister set with the monogram and name - adorable, right?!
And yes, it is also a SheShe Made find.  I think I must really like their things!
LOVE this striped hat for a newborn baby boy - isn't it cute??
I found this on Maddie Lou Beanies and think I might have to have it...
And I found a little something I've wanted for a while too - the "Happy Everything" plate that you can change the attachment on depending on the holiday or celebration!

*Unfortunately, I was not asked to post about any of these companies.  It would, however, be awesome if they wanted to send me any of these things to "test" and feature on my blog.  A girl can wish, right?!
