I just realized that I never did do a Resolution Recap for last month! OOPS! So...better late than never, right?? And after thinking of all of them, I realized I've been a big slacker. Anyways, here we go:
1) Read 14 books: Ugh. I think I'm on the same book I was on the last time I did a recap. I definitely need to finish this book! And I think I've decided to buy a Kindle Fire - maybe that will make me more inclined to read!
2) Learn to sew: Still in the same boat as I was - sewing machine is in its box in my closet.
3) Cook more frequently: I was doing so well and then Brad started traveling a TON for work. I just don't get motivated to cook for only me and Katie. We (I) need to do better about that for sure!
4) Read the Bible everyday and all the way through: Still need to get back on that bandwagon. I really am going to. I am.
5) Use treadmill/workout at least 4 times a week: I haven't done too good of a job on this one recently. I will, though!
6) Use coupons when I shop: I didn't do well on this last month. I'm hoping to dedicate a special time to do this every week - maybe Sunday afternoons? We will see!
7) De-clutter & simplify: I am hoping to do a big purge next week and take a load to Goodwill. Brad is taking off work next week, so we hope to get rid of things we don't need!
8) Find a Sunday school class at church: Still on the list. We were just talking about this at church this past weekend.
9) Buy fresh flowers once/month: I don't think I did this last month. Gosh it just seems like it flew by and time got away from me...oops!
10) Have a date night with Brad at least once/month: Hm. I think we did this last month. Yes - we did. And it was delicious. I spared Brad and didn't get a picture of us, but we really did go on a date!
11) Send 2 hand-written cards/month: Finally! Something I can say I did!
12) Have another baby: Yep...still working. Hoping I can mark this off the list soon!

Resolution Recap: September
1) Read 14 books: Making progress for sure! I am thinking I may actually meet this goal - I have currently read 10 books and am over half way through the 11th! That makes me excited :)
2) Learn to sew: I have still not taken that sewing machine out of the box - oops! BUT....I know how to knit now! That sort of counts, right??
3) Cook more frequently: I am doing well on this. When we were at the beach, I actually MISSED cooking and menu planning! Don't get me wrong - I definitely enjoy eating out and letting someone else do the prep work and clean up, but I did miss being in the kitchen!
4) Read the Bible everyday and read it all the way through: I know I said this last month to - I need to get back on the wagon for this one. There are few devotional books I have come across recently that I want to read also. But yes - still want to finish reading it all the way through for sure!
5) Use treadmill/work out at least 4 times/week: I was doing GREAT with this before we went to the beach. And I had good intentions to get up every morning and at least walk on the beach. That did not happen one single time. We did take a couple walks with Katie, but I don't really consider those exercise. I did walk a few times this past week - and I hope to this coming week too! I will say...walking with Katie in the jog stroller is a true workout - she is probably about 35 lbs and the jog stroller is a good 15 lbs - whew! Makes me tired just thinking about it!
6) Use coupons when I shop: I am not doing so hot at this. First, I need to organize all my coupons so I can find which insert I need. Second, I need to just do it. Especially for cleaning products, toiletries, etc. that I know we will use!
7) De-clutter & simplify: There are some closets I really want to organize. And I need to transition all of Katie's seasonal things for the fall/winter. I think that will help me feel a little better about the state of organization in our space!
8) Find a Sunday school class at church: Making progress! We did visit one class and really enjoyed it. I think there are 2 or 3 other ones that we want to try out and see what we like the best. Yay!
9) Buy fresh flowers once/month: Success! I got these at the Farmer's Market. Aren't they just so fun??
2) Learn to sew: I have still not taken that sewing machine out of the box - oops! BUT....I know how to knit now! That sort of counts, right??

9) Buy fresh flowers once/month: Success! I got these at the Farmer's Market. Aren't they just so fun??
I especially like this picture - so cool!
10) Have a date night with Brad at least once/month: I honestly can't remember if we did have one in September or not! It was definitely a great "escape" to go on vacation to the beach, so if we didn't, I am a-okay with that!
11) Send 2 hand-written notes/month: I think I still lack 1 note to catch up for both August & September!
12) Have another baby: Still working on that one - I feel better about this one with the new plan we have!
13 & 14) I decided I am not going to list those anymore - I feel like I'm writing the same thing every single month! So...just know that I am using "greener" cleaners when I can, and I'm trying to do fun things with Katie to promote learning new things!

Resolution Recap: August
This post is a little late, but better late than never, right?? And it's always a good review for me...
1) Read 14 books: I am making progress! Labor Day Weekend allowed me to make major progress on this one. I think I have completed 8 books so far. My current work-in-progress is this:
2) Learn to sew: I have LOTS of cute fabrics that I want to do something with. And I have borrowed a sewing machine from a friend. Now, I just need to put it on a table and give it a try. The worst thing that happens is I don't get it right the first time and need a seam ripper. Does anyone have any good websites or blogs to get ideas for a beginner's project? I was thinking of trying to do a pillowcase dress, but I may need something even more "beginner" than that!
3) Cook more frequently: Doing MUCH better on this! Doing the meal share with our neighbors definitely helps, and then posting about it on Foodie Fridays holds me even more accountable. I definitely spend a little bit more at the store, but if we ate out each night, we'd be spending even more!
4) Read the Bible everyday and read it all the way through: I definitely read passages everyday but have yet to get back into my daily reading assignments. I really must do better at that this month.
5) Use treadmill/work out at least 4 times/week: Doing better at this too! Since Katie is back in MDO, I make it a point to run or use the treadmill on those days. And then I try to go by my mom's on another day and let her do art projects with Katie for me to run in her neighborhood. I can run 1.3 miles without stopping - I consider that a huge feat! Now if I can just get past that and add to it :)
6) Use coupons when I shop: If there are coupons for the items I need at the store for the recipes in my meal plan, I definitely use them. And when meal planning, I try to use what we have on hand. With that said, I find it hard to meal plan and find recipes and also use coupons. But I need to get back into the drugstore couponing for toiletries, cleaning products, etc!
7) De-clutter & simplify: I haven't done so well at that this month. In fact, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by all our stuff. We are coming up on living in this house for one year (can it be possible?!) and we have definitely accumulated a LOT of crap! I need to use a day when Katie is at MDO and just go through different closets and have a big Goodwill box, a trash bag, and methods of organization ready to go!
8) Find a Sunday school class at church: Ugh. We all want to. I mentioned to Brad that maybe tomorrow we could go. Hoping we can get up early and give it a go!
9) Buy fresh flowers once/month: I made up for not having any around in July - we had two different bunches this month! Our neighbor's parents came to town and they brought these beauties! They actually raise these and have won a bunch of awards! LOVE them!
And then my friend came over for dinner one night and brought us these flowers. I love sunflowers, and I think the hydrangea combo is just perfect!
10) Have a date night with Brad at least once/month: Hm. I think we did that. I know we went to a Titans pre-season game. I think that counts :)
11) Send 2 hand-written notes per month: I'm not so sure I did this. So that means I need to do 6 this month to catch up for July and August!
12) Have another baby: Ugh. Nope. But I do have a new plan. And it doesn't include injectables anymore. Hoping it works!
13) Use more eco-friendly cleaners: Still doing about the same. So yes on some and also working on using up all the other ones we have purchased. I also have yet to use my floor steam cleaner (gasp!). Even after all of that research I put into it - I am happy with the purchase and am sure I will be even more excited once I actually use it. I need to do that at least once a month (if not more often) to sanitize and clean!
14) Have structured learning time each day: Potty training has still taken the forefront of this. We have lots of panties. And some books about being a big girl and using the potty. And potty treats. And a doll that drinks and goes potty. I just need to pull the trigger and go cold turkey with stopping the diapers - except maybe at naptime/bedtime. Hoping we can get this going soon. I think, rather than the little potties, I want to get the big potty inserts so that we don't have to have another habit to break. We shall see.
How are you doing with your resolutions this year? I can't believe we only have a few more months of 2011 left...then it is time for more resolutions!

Resolution Recap: July
It is time to take a look back at the past month and see how I am doing with my resolutions! I am definitely doing better with some of these and lacking with others. Let's go ahead and see how I did! And sorry - don't have any pictures for this one!
1) Read 14 books: Making progress for sure! I can't remember how many I have finished so far, but I am working on one and considering starting a second easy one. I keep finding more books I want to read - that probably warrants its own post!
2) Learn to sew: Making progress! I went to a Sewing 101 class at JoAnn's and loved it! It was just basic stitches and getting to know your way around the sewing machine. I plan to do a class in a couple weeks on how to make those pillowcase dresses - should be fun! I also want to get my own sewing machine. I think I'd definitely feel more comfortable once I can play with it and just learn through trial and error.
3) Cook more frequently: Doing better! Since my neighbors and ourselves are doing Dinner Club (or Meal Sharing or whatever you prefer), it makes me cook a good, coordinated meal at least once a week. And since they do it for us also, that means we get TWO good, coordinated meals each week! I am going to begin a series based on that called Foodie Fridays, so check back each Friday for that (and maybe even link up, if I decide to do so)!
4) Read the Bible everyday and read it the whole way through: Not doing so hot. I've really got to do better about that. I really enjoyed when I was reading each day's assignments and I guess I just got too behind so now it is overwhelming. The sooner I start back at it, the sooner I will catch up!
5) Use treadmill/work out 4 times each week: Doing much better! I've been getting up before I get Katie up and using the treadmill to walk/run. I've also walked to the pool for Katie's swim lessons and then walked home. A walk in our neighborhood is some definite cardio - we have humongous hills! Plus, throw in the fact it is 95+ degrees and I definitely sweat!
6) Use coupons when I shop: We have been getting $5 off a $30 purchase at Publix since a new Whole Foods opened near us, so those are the main coupons I've been using. Since I have wanted to cook certain things, it has made it a little more difficult to use coupons. When there are items on my list, I do check a coupon database and make sure I use any that exist!
7) De-clutter & simplify: I haven't done a whole lot in this department. In fact, with consignment sales starting back up, we have more stuff around here. With our custom cubbies in the laundry room, I hope to be able to organize things in there a little better. And don't worry, pictures of that to come in a different post!
8) Find a Sunday school class at church: Nothing. We have GOT to do this!!!
9) Buy fresh flowers once/month: I can't believe I didn't do that this month! I did think about getting a fresh bunch at the Farmer's Market but just didn't. I guess that just means we have to get flowers TWICE next month! :) I'll be sure and tell that to Brad as a subtle way of suggesting he get some for me.
10) Have a date night with Brad at least once/month: Success! Brad and I went to see Horrible Bosses and ate a quick bite last Sunday. The movie was hilarious!
11) Send 2 hand-written cards/month: I don't think I did this month. I will definitely make up for it this month though!
12) Have another baby: Negative.
13) Use more eco-friendly cleaners: Yes!
14) Have structured learning time each day: We are doing lots of fun things this summer! And Katie is out of mother's day out the whole month of August, so we will have some extra time for some more activities - and possibly even potty training. Any/all advice is welcome on that topic!
