The same day as Jack's party, we planned a last minute babymoon/staycation! We did one when I was pregnant with both Katie and Jack, and I thought it was important that we spend some time together before baby comes...and sleep in! :) We left the house and headed to see Neighbors - and yes, I was still having contractions! They were a little more spread out so I thought that they could possibly be stopping.
After the movie, we headed to check in to the hotel and get ready for dinner. We ate at Saffire and had a great meal! I was still having contractions and I think they were starting to get closer together again (very slowly). The food was amazing and it was nice to have a date night!
Here we are in the car after dinner! We had plans to do some shopping and run a few errands, but instead, we decided to go back to the hotel and relax.
I took a hot shower to see if that would help the contractions and then we piled in to watch another movie. I went to sleep around 10:30 and woke up at 12:30 with some pretty strong contractions. By 3:00, I couldn't take it anymore - I couldn't lay down or just stay still because they hurt so bad. So I woke Brad up and told him it may be time to head to the hospital and just get checked out. He was groggy and immediately asked how far apart the contractions were - and by this point they were about 4 minutes apart. Once I said that, he jumped out of bed! And 10 minutes later we were in the car headed to the hospital. Thank goodness Grandma was already at the house with Katie and Jack! And since we were at the hotel, we were a little bit closer to the hospital!
We arrived, checked in, and they checked me - I was dilated to a 4! And in active labor! There was going to be a baby! So much for a relaxing, sleeping in, go to brunch kind of staycation!
Nothing like a selfie being wheeled to a labor and delivery room!
Check back for the rest of the birth story :)
Oh wow, what a way to end a date night!!!
