Christmas Day '16

What a fun Christmas Day we had!  I loved going back through the pictures!  Santa certainly did pay a visit to our house - I even caught him red-handed!  I don't even remember what app I used, but I loved it!
And here were the goods from the Jolly Guy!  I'd say these kids were good...or maybe Alvin put in a good word for them!
And the traditional kids-at-the-top-of-the-stairs-not-wanting-a-picture picture! :) Love the bedhead on the boys...they sure needed a haircut by then!
I would say Katie's favorite thing was the collection of Pokémon cards!  She liked playing with the Hatchimal some.  And the walkie talkies have been great when she is outside playing with friends or over at friend's houses.  The Pokémon cards have been sorted and stacked and traded!
The Nerf guns and lightsaber were definitely a hit for Jack!  See that bottom left picture?  He has a school bus with monster truck tires that he got from his stocking before anyone else was awake!  That's right -- first child to ever sneak and see the Santa spread.  I am not surprised one bit - could only laugh!  At least he only raided his stash!  Oh - and he was a big fan of the wagon he asked for as well!
Ryan sat and colored with that invisible ink pad for quite some time!  And he loved his Balance Bike with Mickey helmet!  We need to actually take it somewhere to use it now!  He also loved his Little Einsteins plush characters (especially Rocket) and Jack's light saber!
Sadie was so happy on Christmas morning!  Just look at that happy dog face!
I made cinnamon roll monkey bread the night before...it was the same recipe as Thanksgiving, but rather than doing it in a bundt pan (where it didn't cook through enough), I did it flat in a casserole dish...it was good, but not nearly as good as Thanksgiving.  Guess I will have to give it another go sometime soon!  And the one piece missing was because someone {looking at you, Brad} had to test it out!
Nanny and Papa came over on Christmas morning to watch the kids dig through their goodies and have breakfast with us!  Glad they were here this year - they missed last year!  And glad that we got a picture of them with the kiddos!
LOVE this picture of the kids with Sadie!  You can totally tell that Sadie and Katie are BFFs...she loves the boys but she definitely has a special place for Katie.
And see these pictures?  This is when the kids found out about our new addition! We gave them a dog bed, collar, leash, toys, treats, and framed picture of a litter of puppies....that's right!  We are getting a puppy!  I took a video of this, so these pictures are still shots from the video...it took them a while to figure it out (which was basically us telling them...at first, Katie thought Sadie was having puppies!)!!
Katie took these pictures of us - a sweet one and then she told us to be goofy.  These pictures capture is pretty well, I'd say!
We didn't go to my mom's house until late morning, so the kids actually had time to play with their toys!  Love this action shot...who knows what Jack was telling Ryan to do.  Ha!  But Mr. Bossypants is often seen in this same scenario :)
I got a quick picture of the kiddos before loading up for Cee Cee's house to celebrate!  That's right....SHORTS WEATHER.  ON CHRISTMAS DAY.  Unreal.  It was a gorgeous day!
And a family shot in front of Cee Cee's tree!  Love this!
And here are some favorites from time at Cee Cee's house!  Katie loved the Jeep for her American Girl dolls (the boys loved it too -- go figure)!!  Ryan had to be corralled in the highchair, but he loved playing with his new magnet blocks!  And Jack thought the monster truck that can pull things was absolutely amazing!  He and my uncle sure do think alike :) And we got a new sled!  Katie and Jack were so excited!
I also managed to get a few cute pictures!  Love this cuddlebug picture!
And a selfie with the Rhino!  He loves selfies since he can actually see himself - such a nut!
Katie and Brad opened a neat ornament from Cee Cee!
And I got a girl picture!
When I was scrolling through my phone (or Timehop), I came across a picture from two years ago on Christmas Day.  Boy am I thankful for finding a good workout routine!  And Katie has grown up so much!  She's still got that long blonde hair though!
When we got home, we all crashed for a bit.  Ryan took a snooze and I actually fell asleep on the dog bed - ha!  Then we rounded up some dinner and turned a new movie on for a picnic!  We all watched Aladdin - it had been so long since we had seen it!
Ryan had fun biking through the house :)
And Jack absolutely loved his Tinkertoys!  Actually, I don't know who loved them more...Brad or Jack :)  He was so proud of his creation, and it was so neat to watch them build it together!
Katie's Hatchimal finally hatched.  And of course she spent some more quality time with her Pokémon cards!
Before heading upstairs, the boys did some light saber fighting!  This action shot may be one of my favorites!  Brad has "the dad look" and a child is sitting on the dog bed (there is usually at least one child on it whenever the TV is on or a toy is being played with in the living room)!
We missed getting with my Dad's side of the family this year, but I have to say...it was kind of relaxing to only have one stop to make.  It definitely makes me thankful for all of our family - and hopefully next year will be back to tradition :)

We Survived

I think I may have heard a deep sigh of relief (or even a Hallelujah Chorus) coming from the area as today was the first day back to school.  And we survived break!  Having all three kiddos home is no joke, that is for sure.  I did enjoy having them home and it stretched my patience level on multiple occasions!  But man, oh man is it good to get back into a routine.  And school for the littles.

Katie packed in as many sleepovers as possible into the last few days of Christmas break!  She had a sleepover with Cee Cee, with Nanny + Papa, and then a few days later with Grandma at Brad's aunt and uncle's house!  I know she had a blast and loves having that special time with everyone!  Here she is before going to Cee Cee's house in one of her new outfits she got for Christmas!
Saturday, before we went to pick her up, we stopped at the park to let the boys run around some!  I think we are going to just have to bundle up and suck it up so the kids can run around and get fresh air.  They could care less that it is chilly - we are the ones that would rather not!
Sunday, Brad and I took the boys to church and then met at the park to get Katie back!  It was a little chilly, but they ran around enough to be aokay!  That evening we went to a place with drive thru Christmas lights.  The music was so fun and the lights were amazing!  The kids had a great time - aside from the fact that Katie started crying and moaning that her gums hurt - and then her ear.  So we ended up heading to urgent care and she was diagnosed with a severe ear infection!  Never dull!
Thankfully even after one dose of meds and some Motrin, she felt a lot better.  We ended up spending Monday at home between Katie and Jack -- he woke up with pink eye!  Sheesh!  They both had colds and I guess the colds just settled differently in their bodies.  We have survived the eye drops, but goodness it is not fun!

Tuesday it was back to the workout grind.  I went to kickboxing (which I happen to be incredible sore from still) - love getting back into my routine!
Nothing like some close-to-naked time!  He made a HUGE mess at lunch, so he ran around like this for a while before he went down for a nap.
And some snuggling - I love that Sadie was snuggling with the stuffed doggy!
Jack looked so grown up yesterday - his hair looked different, he seemed taller, and he had new shoes on that made him look older (and no - I don't have a clue how shoes made him look older, but they did!).
And I attempted a picture of the brothers before we headed to the Y, and this was the best I could get.  Real life, folks!  Another reason Jack looked older? I think he has gotten taller (as evidenced by the fact that his pants clearly look way too short)!
And today was back to school time.  Katie came home SO TALKATIVE - I swear she has never come home that happy and willing to tell me about her day!  It was such a nice change!  And Jack had a good day (but of course was being mischievous when I picked him up) -- so glad his eye is better!  Ryan had a big time at school - before Christmas he would get to the top of the slide and whine until someone helped him down.  Well, he finally decided to be a big boy at school and go down the slide himself - what a stinker!  He loves going down slides at home and at the park -- I have no idea why he decided to wait this long to do the slide at school!

4th of July Trip

Welcome to a new edition of blog catch-up!  Here we are making plans for Thanksgiving and I am just now posting about the 4th of July! Ha!  Enjoy :)

We all loaded up (and when I say all, I mean everyone...including Sadie) to visit some great friends in Virginia!  Everyone did great on the drive, thankfully!  We only play movies on the DVD player in the van when we are on roadtrips, so it is our saving grace when we are in the van!
The first full day we were there, we hung out around the house.  It was nice to relax and do nothing and visit!  Here is a picture of me, Katie, and one of their boys!
Then the next day was the 4th!  Katie and I matched!  Isn't that the sweetest? Ha.
All 3 crazies were sporting their patriotic goods!  Goodness how they've changed since July - especially Jack and Ryan!
And a family shot!  Love this picture!
Ryan even cooperated for a selfie with me! (PS: I see this picture of me and can definitely tell that I've lost weight.  Wow!)
Sadie had the time of her life on our trip!  She was outside and playing as much as possible.  She did have to stop and take a break in the shade from time to time!
That morning, we all drove around and went to an overlook that was beautiful!  I happened to get this picture of all 5 kiddos together.  Love it!
And Brad and I actually got a good one together!
And this is one that will be in a frame once I make time to change pictures out - the whole crew!
That evening we headed out to get ready for some fireworks!  It was so neat to see them over the fair!
Another picture of me and my girl - and our blue eyes! :)
Then it was finally time!  The fireworks show was amazing!  The kids loved them - even Ryan was in a trance watching them!
The next day we hung out and played outside - so great!
Katie with the boys - who knows what they were up to.  Probably up to no good!
The next day it was time for us to head home - we always have such a fun time with them and hate to leave!  Here are the big kids before we all loaded into the car to begin our adventure!
And we stopped at Sonic on the way home - its just easy!  This guy got out of his carseat so he could stretch out some...he loved acting like he was driving!
We can't wait to see our friends again - hopefully before next summer!
