Baby Girl Celebration

The same that it snowed about 3 - 4 inches, I hosted a baby shower at my house! I wondered if everyone would actually show up, and sure enough, they did! We did hurry through some of it so that people could head on home and stay warm and safe. It was so fun - I love all things baby!
This shower was for one of my college roommates - her name is Ashley also. She is having a baby girl and is due on Valentine's Day! My only request between now and then is that she decide on a name :) Enjoy these pictures from the fun shower!

I made this wreath and had it on the front door for the shower. She can also take it to the hospital with her and put it on the door when she has this sweet girl!

Close up of the middle pendant in the wreath

I put up pom pom tissues as decoration!

They also hung on the chandelier in the dining room...

We put out cards for people to fill out with advice for the parents. At the end of the shower, I put all of them in a photo album as a keepsake. Please notice that these advice cards match the invitation (coming up soon) ... so cute!

The drink table - that is the invitation in a frame!

The diaper cake centerpiece that we made! I love making those diaper cakes :)

The finger foods we had out

All of the gifts!

Some of the attendees getting their plates before the opening of the gifts. (also a sneak peak at an angle of my kitchen!...I will do a house post before the end of the year!)

Another one of the hostesses with the mom-to-be ... they have been best buds since high school! And she went to Auburn with us too...

This is what it was doing outside while she was opening gifts...

Opening one of the many gifts

Me with the mom-to-be ... I made it black and white because we looked completely washed out from the flash :)

I think she's set! Lots of fun baby gear!

The Season's First Snow!

Last Sunday, we had a big snow event for this area! It is also rare to get snow in the early part of December, so many were a bit skeptical that it would even happen. Well, needless to say - it did! And actually, they closed the roads around where we live now, so we were stuck (no biggy though because we would not have wanted to go anywhere anyway)! Anytime I want to host something, we have a big weather occurrence. The big flood was the same weekend as Katie's first birthday party, and then on this day, I was hosting a baby shower (be looking for a post on that soon). Here are some pictures from the fun!

I love this picture - it is like she is amazed at this white stuff falling from the sky. So neat.

I think she made a face similar to this one during one of last year's snows!

Playing with momma!

Can't forget Sadie - she LOVES the snow!

We had been out for a while here - notice the rosy cheeks!
DAY #2: We got outside again the next day with our neighbors! They have a little girl that just turned one - it was her first snow experience! I can't wait for her and Katie to get a little older...they will have so much fun playing together! And I love that her parents are Auburn fans too :)

The sun had started melting some of the snow...and it made it rather bright!

Playing together! Katie was showing her how it works!

I love this one...it hadn't melted down by the fence - and the snow came up to Katie's knees!

....and she was done. Needless to say, naptime was near!

Who Needs Dress Up Clothes?!

Yes, she has a gift bag on her head, a pair of my panties on as a necklace, and is missing a shoe...
Brad had a bandana from a habitat build that he helped with and Katie found it and wanted it on her head...

....and finally, Katie decided she wanted to wear her pants on her head. Oh my. Creative? Most definitely!

I wonder if Santa is bringing Katie any dress-up clothes? She certainly could do a little better than the things she has found lying around the house!!

'Tis the Season!

Last weekend we got all gussied up and headed out on the town for Brad's company Christmas party! I must say that this year's shindig was definitely a step up from the last couple of years.

Before heading to the party, we enjoyed a double date dinner with some of our friends at a great restaurant. I was the only one who had not been to this hot spot - I'm so glad I finally did! The food was great and the ambiance was perfect.

Then we headed across the street to a trendy highrise condo building where the party would be held. It was on the 9th floor and had a great view of downtown Nashville's skyline!

And of course we had to take some pictures. Here are our friends, Melinda & Jonathan. Jonathan and Brad work together! (PS: Be sure to check their blog out - a link can be found on the sidebar to the right. M is so witty and entertaining...and she finds out this week whether they will be having a boy or a girl!)

And here we are. Not too shabby of a picture! I love an opportunity to get dressed up and have a night out with adults!

Being silly :) Melinda told us to "lovingly gaze into eachother's eyes". Of course we just laughed!

And a picture of Melinda and myself. Of course this was after we both had to take a minute and discuss which side was our better side!

What fun! Stay tuned for more posts about what we've been up to lately. I finally uploaded some more pictures, so I can do all these posts that have been bouncing around in my head!

SEC Champs!!

This post is a couple weeks overdue, but I couldn't resist!
Auburn played South Carolina in the SEC Championship game on Saturday, December 4.
I'm not sure if it was the fact that I used my new Auburn platter...
...or maybe that I remembered to put out our Auburn flag...

...or even my new Auburn shirt....

...or Katie's War Eagle dress...

...or lastly was it our friend's dog, Lucy, wearing her jersey?

....whatever it was, it WORKED!! Auburn won and is officially National Championship game bound!! Glendale, Arizona here we come! I hope we can make it to the game...but if not, we will for sure be featuring each of these options at home while Auburn takes on Oregon - and hopefully ends up with another win!
WAR EAGLE!!!

Animals, Animals!!

One of my favorite things to do is run through the list of animal sounds that Katie knows - it is adorable. (I know I am slightly biased, but it really is adorable!) Her facial expressions, the noises...it all is hilarious! She knows cow, dog, horse, cat, lion, & bunny (bunnies are an action, not a sound - she says "hop hop hop" and bounces her hand up and down). I have to say the bunny action and lion sound are probably my favorite. Love it.

Friends!

Thanksgiving is a great time to get together with friends, as well! A couple of my best friends from growing up and I got together for brunch to catch up. One of them lives in Dallas, so we don't get together too terribly often. We had a great time! It is like we don't miss a beat - so much fun. And after brunch we came back to my house so they could see my new house and see Katie again. Oh I wish we could do this every weekend. But the times we do get together are special and oh so fun. Hopefully we can do it again soon!

Thanksgiving 2010

Gosh, we have so much to be thankful for. I know I am a bit delayed in this post, but things have been crazy. That definitely does not mean we did not take time to pause and count our blessing this past Thanksgiving. We have our faith, our family, our friends, our health, our jobs, our new home, food on the table, and love. We are beyond blessed.
It was great to take time out to spend time with those we love. And the traditional spread of food wasn't too shabby either! We got up that morning and Katie and I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Needless to say she got very excited when the Sesame Street float was shown!!

Then we got ready for the day and headed over to my Meme's house to eat lunch! We took a picture of Katie in this same chair last year, and MAN has she grown!
Of course we had to get a family photo :)

This year was Katie's first actual Thanksgiving meal. And she loved it! She loves green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, some turkey, hashbrown casserole, and everything else! Do you think she was hungry in this picture? Looks like she is saying, "Hurry it up! Get this thing set up and get me some grub!"

So, we did just that. Here she is chowing down! And she took a nap while the adults ate, so I could enjoy my lunch uninterrupted!

After she woke up from her nap, we introduced her to the piano for the first time. She thought it was the neatest thing! She would hit some keys on one end, and then she'd run to the other end and hit those.

I wish this picture weren't blurry because I love it! It is still kinda neat with some blur, but I wish it were crystal clear. So sweet.

Brad's got the right idea! Full belly + recliner + football = great Thanksgiving afternoon!

Cee Cee gave her a neat puzzle to play with. She loves, loves it!

And last but not least, our Little Turkey. The dress was a bit big, so it may appear next Thanksgiving as well! :)

After we left Meme's house, we later headed to visit with my family on my dad's side of the family. It was great to see everyone and visit - there was no definitely not much eating going on since we stuffed ourselves at lunch! What a great day!

Naked Baby

When Brad went in to get Katie up this morning, he came across a naked baby! That's right, she had unzipped her pajamas enough to get out of them (it was a one piece fleecey kind) and then proceeded to take her diaper off as well. And yes, she did pee in her crib too. Ugh. I just don't understand why they don't keep the snaps over the zippers the whole time. She is now wearing a size 2T and they don't have the snap, which allows her full access to the zipper! Looks like I will be buying more shirt/pants sets!
